Principal’s message

Warrkamu Yikamartala!

I warmly welcome you to the Marble Bar Primary School’s Website. I respectfully acknowledge the past and present traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work, the Nyamal people. I am honoured to be able to use the Marble Bar Primary School site with approval of the traditional custodians. I also acknowledge what Aboriginal Australia and non-Aboriginal Australia have contributed towards the education of all children and people in this country we all live in share together, Australia.

As the principal of Marble Bar Primary School, I am honoured to contribute to opportunities for Aboriginal Elders, industry leaders, and organisations to engage two-way as part of an integrated, culturally responsive and energising school. The school collaborates with an extensive suite of partner schools, the community, local government and industry to develop every Kindergarten to Year 12 student’s skills, knowledge and aspirations including problem-solving, digital literacy, teamwork, creativity, intercultural understanding and enthusiasm for learning.

Our small school is recognised as a state leader of culturally responsive STEM, winning several awards including the Meritorious Leadership Award of the 2021 Governor’s School STEM Awards. Marble Bar Primary School staff are well recognised for going above and beyond to develop engaging and supportive learning environments for students.

As we progress through 2022 and into 2023, I look forward to supporting the ongoing development of our literacy, numeracy, Marble Bar’s Virtual Worlds, VET pathway opportunities in collaboration with industry partners. I also look forward to supporting staff in creating and sharing high quality teaching and learning for students and educators in Marble Bar’s Virtual World Galleries and Network.

It is a privilege to lead Marble Bar Primary School and I look forward to welcoming you to review and visit our innovative programs online, virtually and in-person at our wonderful school.

In unity,
Shane Wilson
Principal
